Monolithic Zirconia
Monolithic Zirconia is a full-contour restoration crafted from a solid block of high-strength zirconia. With outstanding fracture resistance and durability, Monolithic Zirconia is the preferred choice for restorations such as posterior crowns, bridges, and full-arch prosthetics.
Benefits and Material Evaluation
Main composition: Zirconium oxide (Y-TZP – Yttria-stabilized Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystals).
Clinical applications: Single crowns, bridges, implant-supported restorations, and full-arch prosthetics.
Aesthetics: High-translucency zirconia types (HT, STML) offer sufficient translucency for use in anterior restorations.
Technical Specifications
Material Thickness: Minimum thickness ranges from 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm, depending on clinical indication. For posterior restorations, a thickness of 1.0 mm to 1.5 mm is recommended to withstand masticatory forces.
Flexural Strength: Monolithic Zirconia offers exceptionally high flexural strength, up to 900 – 1200 MPa, making it suitable for single crowns as well as long-span bridges in high-stress areas.
Translucency: Aesthetic-grade zirconia types provide improved translucency, typically around 40% – 49%, ideal for anterior restorations using HT (High Translucency) or STML (Super Translucent Multi-Layered) zirconia lines.
Production Time: 2–3 working days in the lab (with digital design file).
